This is a presentation of ongoing harmful algal blooms (HABs) work that is a part of the Strategic Research Action Plan under the Safe and Sustainable Waters Research program. This presentation is to the Research Area Coordination Team (RACT) for the Safe and Sustainable Waters Research program. This work contributes to SSWR Subproduct 404.3.2 Applying forecasted data to better understand, quantify, and anticipate the social and environmental justice impacts of HABs. We provide research updates for the ongoing qualitative and quantitative data collection. These mixed methods are designed to work in synergy to provide deeper insights on the social impacts of HABs.
