Citation:

Duvall, R. My Journey and Career as a Researcher at the U.S. EPA. Boolean Girl Ambassador Program, Washington, DC, August 05, 2022.

Impact/Purpose:

Women and people of color are still underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Improving and broadening access to STEM opportunities can help inspire female students and students of color to pursue STEM careers. One such program that seeks to cultivate STEM interests among girls aged 8-14 years old is the Boolean Girl Program. Dr. Rachelle Duvall was invited to speak for the Boolean Girl Ambassador Program. In this talk, Dr. Duvall shares information on the U.S. EPA, her educational background, a few select research projects at EPA including research on air sensors, and tips for students who may interested in STEM careers. This presentation aligns with EPA ORD's goals in promoting educational outreach and also supports efforts to advance diversity and inclusion at EPA.
