Impact/Purpose:
This letter to the editor reflects on activities conducted through the Air Quality Model Evaluation International Initiative (AQMEII) over the past decade. These reflections are provided by the two current AQMEII co-chairs and are addressed to the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association (JA&WMA), Dr. S.T. Rao who was one of the initiators of AQMEII. The letter also calls on the air quality modeling community to utilize the datasets generated through AQMEII for further research and discusses potential future AQMEII activities. The letter will be published in JA&WMA without journal peer review.

More than a decade has elapsed since the launch of the Air Quality Model Evaluation International Initiative (AQMEII). In this letter, the authors reflect upon the evolution of AQMEII and provide an update to the entire air quality modeling community: why this program was started, what has been produced, what has been learned, and where the community can go from here.
