Impact/Purpose:

This community outreach presentation was given as a keynote to the February 2020 meeting of the Bream Fisherman's Association (BFA). The BFA is not-for-profit community organization in Pensacola, Florida dedicated to promoting environmental conservation and recreational opportunities for fishermen, hunters, campers and related outdoors men. An objective of the BFA to support, develop, and implement programs that will provide environmental outreach and education. This invited presentation is intended to address this objective by providing the attendees with a general overview of the new ORD organizational structure (following the recent ORD reorganization) and an overview of some of the research activities at the GEMM Division.

Description:

This invited presentation included an overview of the new organizational structure for EPA-ORD-CEMM-GEMMD and key research focal areas at the Division. The presentation also included an overview of the Sediment Profile Imaging (SPI) tool and examples of images collected from recent applications in Gulf estuaries and in the Great Lakes.
