Impact/Purpose:
This preface describes a special issue of the Journal of Air and Waste Management Association (JA&WMA) focusing on air quality models and their applications. The select set of papers published in the special issue are based on presentations given during the 18th Annual Conference of the Community Modeling and Analysis System (CMAS) in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA from October 21–23, 2019. The research described in these papers advance the development and use of air quality models for addressing air pollution issues across a range of scales.
