Modeling Fluxes of Reactive Nitrogen Using Chemical Transport Models

Citation:

Schwede, D., H. Pye, R. Saylor, AND L. Zhang. Modeling Fluxes of Reactive Nitrogen Using Chemical Transport Models. NADP TDep White Paper Seminar Series, NA, April 15, 2020.

Impact/Purpose:

Excess nitrogen can be an important stressor on the environment and can produce many harmful effects. Chemical transport models are an important tool for examining the spatial and temporal variation in reactive nitrogen. The presentation provides a brief overview of modeling components that are important to characterizing nitrogen deposition, highlights uncertainties and outlines future research needs.

Description:

The presentation will be given as part of the National Atmospheric Deposition Program Total Deposition Science Committee webinar series providing an overview of the white paper on “Science needs for continued development of total nitrogen deposition budgets in the United States. the contents of the presentation provide an overview on modeling of fluxes of reactive nitrogen using chemical transport models and highlights future research needs for model development.
