Multimedia, Non-Targeted Examination of Emerging PFAS Sources

Impact/Purpose:

The underlying research presented is the detection and identification of emerging PFAS materials in the United States. Such chemicals are of significant interest to EPA at and the general public due to their potential toxicological effects and persistent pollutant nature. The use of high resolution mass spectrometry data to identify potential targets for analysis is useful to state partners in their PFAS decision making efforts.

Description:

This is an invited presentation at a conference on Environmental occurrence, bioaccumulation, fate, and transport of poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) by the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC). The abstract proposes details the discussion of case studies in rapid exposure assessment and chemical mixture analysis with a focus on PFAS chemicals.
