Handbook Guidance, Gardening, and Internal Review (HGGIR) Task 6: Guidance documentation for defining the domain of applicability

Impact/Purpose:

The Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Expert Advisory Group on Molecular Screening and Toxicogenomics (EAGMST) subgroup focused on Handbook Guidance, Gardening, and Internal Review (HGGIR) develops guidance documents for the creation and application of adverse outcome pathways. Adverse outcome pathways are used to capture existing knowledge about biological pathways that can be used to understand causal relationships between biological levels of organization that lead to adverse effects important for risk assessment. Carlie LaLone is the task lead for developing the guidance for the domain of applicability fields associated with AOPs, including defining the relevance across taxa, life-stage, and sex. This webinar will be used to initiate discussions to expand the task team focused on the Domain of Applicability in AOP development.

Description:

The Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Expert Advisory Group on Molecular Screening and Toxicogenomics (EAGMST) subgroup focused on Handbook Guidance, Gardening, and Internal Review (HGGIR) develops guidance documents for the creation and application of adverse outcome pathways. Carlie LaLone is the task lead for developing the guidance for the domain of applicability fields associated with AOPs, key events, and key event relationships. This webinar will be used to initiate discussions to expand the task team focused on the Domain of Applicability in AOP development. The task will specifically develop and build upon current guidance for the Domain of Applicability fields required for AOP development and application. The guidance will focus on the three existing sections of the Domain of Applicability, which include taxonomic domain, life-stage, and sex and identify other sections, such as biological context that may be necessary for description of the AOP. Guidance will consider multiple resources for appropriate data to populate these fields, including but not limited to computational, cell-based, and in vivo results.
