Since the implementation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) in 1991, a great deal of research has been conducted on copper corrosion and the leaching of copper from materials in drinking water distribution systems. While important progress has been made, a number of gaps still exist, especially in the area of Cu(II) solubility (cuprosolvency) research.
