Citation:
Oshima, K. Village Blue- Lake Pontchatrain Real-time Water Quality Monitoring. Lake Pontchatrain Urban Waters Partnership, New Orleans, LA, September 11, 2019.
Impact/Purpose:
Address local water quality issues utilizing real-time water quality sensors and explore educational outreach opportunities. This is part of a RARE study entitled "Lake Pontchartrain real-time monitoring and outreach- a Village Blue extension to Region 6" . This is a presentation to local stakeholders that have interest in Lake Pontchartrain water quality. The purpose of the presentation is to provide state organizations, NGO, university and others an overview of the study and seek input for research interests and outreach opportunities. The research will help identify how real-time sensor data can be used to address water quality issues that may otherwise be difficult to assess and detail outreach opportunities that this type of data provides. The collaborators on the study will be direct beneficiaries of the results as well as other organizations that are interested in deploying sensors as part of their data collection strategy.
Description:
This presentation provides an overview of the Village Blue project beginning with a description of the Village Blue - Baltimore study. Study objectives, design and findings are summarized with emphasis on scientific findings as well as outreach activities. The presentation then proceeds to a description of the Village Blue - Lake Pontchartrain study. Study objectives, design, research and outreach opportunities. This is followed by a discussion by the stakeholders on research and outreach and potential interest in collaboration.
