Impact/Purpose:

The Home Health Quality Improvement (HHQI) National Campaign, an initiative of HHS' Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is dedicated to improving the quality of care provided to America’s home health patients. The organization's role is to assist the home health practitioner, or an allied partner in improving the quality of care that home health patients receive by providing evidence-based tools, timely data reports and a wealth of ongoing educational opportunities. The information conveyed during the presentation to the membership of the HHQI National Campaign has the potential to be incorporated into the training and practice of home health providers and allies.

Description:

The presentation will describe the association between air pollution and risks for worsening heart and lung disease, and will describe how the EPA is partnering with CMS/CDC to provide educational materials to inform individuals at high risk from the adverse health effects of air pollution on ways they and reduce exposure and risks. The presentation will emphasize ORD's contribution to the scientific foundation of the clinical and public health recommendations to protect the health of those at highest risk.
