NATIONAL MATERNAL AND INFANT HEALTH SURVEY (NMIHS)

Description:

The National Maternal and Infant Health Survey (NMIHS) provides data on maternal and infant health, including prenatal care, birth weight, fetal loss, and infant mortality. The objective of the NMIHS is to collect data needed by Federal, State, and private researchers to study factors related to poor pregnancy outcomes, including low birth weight, stillbirth, infant illness, and infant death. The NMIHS is a follow back survey -- it follows back informants named on vital records.
