Next Generation Emission Measurement (NGEM) Research for Fugitive Air Pollution
Impact/Purpose:
This presentation will be presented at the 2025 Fall CenSARA Membership Meeting. This presentation summarizes and discusses various applications of Next Generation Emission Measurement (NGEM) technologies. Different types of NGEM approaches, and in-plant, fenceline, nearby community, and landfill applications will be discussed.
Description:
This presentation will be given at the 2025 Fall CenSARA Membership meeting. The audience will be state and local air quality agencies from Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas. This presentation will discuss current progress and applications of Next Generation Emission Measurements (NGEM) technologies. NGEM technologies have many applications across various temporal and spatial scales to provide emission information that could otherwise not be detected. In industrial applications, NGEM technologies can complement site inspection and other instrumentation to help understand and manage source emissions. Additionally, NGEM approaches can be used along the fenceline (e.g., the interface between the facility and the community) and within the surrounding communities to better understand source impacts. Applications of NGEM for fenceline and community ethylene oxide monitoring and for landfills will also be discussed.
