Description:
This dataset contains water quality measurements performed by the US EPA and University of Puerto Rico at Las Curias Reservoir (Aljibe Las Curias), a small tropical impoundment situated in the Cupey ward of San Juan, Puerto Rico (18.34169° N, 66.04828° W). Constructed in 1946, the reservoir is managed by the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority and was initially built to supply drinking water to the San Juan metropolitan area. The system is impounded by a 22 m earthen dam equipped with a 13 m-diameter morning-glory spillway that regulates overflow and maintains storage capacity. At its design elevation of 96.25 m above mean sea level, the reservoir has a surface area of approximately 0.192 km² and an initial storage volume of 1.38 × 106 m³.
