Impact/Purpose:
In air quality modeling, chemical mechanisms are used to represent atmospheric chemical reactions. The Community Regional Atmospheric Chemistry Multiphase Mechanism (CRACMM) predicts multiple air quality endpoints, including ozone (O3), particulate matter (PM), chemical components of PM such as secondary organic aerosol (SOA), and toxics like formaldehyde. CRACMM is available in CMAQv5.4 and later, and this work provides emissions and other inputs to run CMAQ with CRACMM mechanisms over the contiguous U.S. for the year 2025. This work supports Pillar 1: Clean Air, Land, and Water for Every American by supporting robust atmospheric chemistry modeling using the latest information. It also supports Pillar 3: Permitting Reform, Cooperative Federalism, and Cross-Agency Partnership as CRACMM is developed in partnership with federal partners and this release enables state use of CMAQ with CRACMM for 2020.
Description:
This dataset includes CMAQ input data for the CRACMM2 chemical mechanism for a 12/01/2024 - 12/31/2025 simulation over the Continental US. The files are consistent with CMAQv5.5 CRACMM2, but data can be used in CMAQv5.4 and later and all versions of CRACMM with appropriate adjustments. Data include emissions, meteorology, fertilizer information, lightning information, model initial chemical conditions, and surface information for the domain. This dataset continues the collection of years for which CRACMM inputs across the U.S. are publicly available (currently 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023).
