Improving Search Results

Search result capability may be enhanced by use of the “%” or “_” special characters.

• The “%” instructs the application to locate all of the EPA-preferred terms that contain the characters entered wherever they may exist within the preferred term.
  • For example, the entry “%pea” would retrieve the following possibilities:
    • chickpea;
    • cowpea;
    • pea;
    • pea and bean;
    • peach;
    • peanut;
    • pear;
    • pearl millet;
    • spearmint, etc.
• The “_” instructs the application to locate the EPA-preferred terms that contain all of the characters entered plus any character where the “_” is used.
  • For example, the entry “pe_” would retrieve the following possibilities:
    • pea;
    • pea and bean;
    • peach;
    • peanut;
    • pear;
    • pearl millet;
    • pear;
    • pecan;
    • pepper;
    • peppermint;
    • perennial;
    • persimmons, etc.

Search the Food and Feed Commodity Vocabulary by Crop Group or Subgroup

This feature identifies the crop groups or the crop subgroups by name and number. By selecting one of the crop groups or crop subgroups listed in the drop down menus and clicking on "List" you can retrieve all preferred terms for the commodity members of the selected crop group or subgroup.
