Abstract The Subsurface Volatilization and Ventilation System (trademark) is an integrated technology used for attacking all phases of volatile organic compound (VOC) contamination in soil and groundwater. Through this process, volatile and semivolatile organic compounds are stripped from the soil and groundwater. The subsurface circulation of air also increases dissolved oxygen concentrations in the saturated zone, capillary fringe, and vadose zone, thereby promoting aerobic microbiological processes. The SVVS (trademark) process was evaluated under the SITE program at the EV facility in Buchanan, MI.
