Abstract The ZenoGem technology is a wastewater treatment process designed to treat groundwater, landfill leachate, industrial effluent, and soil washing effluent contaminated with high concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and semivolatile organic compounds (SVOCs) that cause elevated levels of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD). The technology uses an innovative combination of aerobic biological treatment to remove biodegradable organic compounds and ultrafiltration to separate residual suspended solids from the treated effluent.
