Abstract This decision document presents the U.S. Army's selected remedial action for soils and groundwater at the Army Materials Technology Laboratory (MTL), Watertown, Massachusetts. This remedial action addresses long-term residential and commercial exposure to contaminated soil. It consists of excavating the contaminated soil and transporting the soil for off-site disposal and/or reuse. Excavations are to be backfilled with clean soil. Once contaminated soil is removed, the bottom and sidewalls of the excavation areas will be sampled and analyzed to ensure that site cleanup goals are met.
