Abstract |
Through a supplementary control system (SCS), SO2 emissions from a facility are temporarily curtailed when meteorological conditions conducive to high ambient SO2 concentrations exist or are anticipated. The purpose of the document is to provide guidance to facilities proposing to use SCS and to air pollution control agencies in their case-by-case evaluation of such systems to determine if the proposed systems will ensure attainment of air quality standards. The document provides specific guidance on (1) technical considerations with such systems, (2) meteorological conditions conducive to high ambient pollutant concentrations, (3) the application by the source to use an SCS, and (4) the development and implementation of such systems. |
