Abstract |
The document describes available control techniques for controlling NOx emissions from various processes at iron and steel mills. These processes include reheat furnaces, annealing furnaces, galvanizing furnaces, soaking pits, sintering, blast furnaces, basic oxygen furnaces, and electric-arc furnaces. Discussions of NOx formation and uncontrolled emission levels are included. NOx control techniques include low excess air, low NOx burners, flue gas recirculation, selective noncatalytic reduction and selective catalytic reduction. Achievable NOx emission levels, costs and cost effectiveness and environmental impacts for these controls are presented. |
