||This report was prepared to aid those who are developing and commercializing new technologies to meet the future cleanup demand. It provides an overview of the market to help industry and government officials develop research, development, and marketing strategies. This report updates and expands a 1993 analysis that brought together for the first time valuable information on site characteristics, market size, and other factors that affect the demand for remediation services. To provide a realistic estimate of expected contracting opportunities, the demand estimates are limited to remaining cleanup work and do not include projects that are underway or completed. While the report considers a broad range of remediation services required in the future, its purpose is to provide insight into the potential application of new treatment technologies.
