Abstract |
The development of a system for thermal destratification of large reservoirs is presented. Rate of change of the water volume affected and the magnitude of aeration were determined in the central pool of Eufaula Reservoir in eastern Oklahoma. The pilot system was undersized for circulating the entire volume of the central pool, yet 65,000 acre-feet of water below a depth of 22 feet was aerated by the 25th day of operation. Rate of change of hydrodynamic aeration trajectories and thermal effect versus mechanical energy input are discussed. Pilot system design and operational limitations served as a guide for design of a more effective system for continued research and development of destratification of large reservoirs. (Author) |
