Abstract |
The food-processing industry is the second largest industrial source of waterborne organic wastes in the Pacific Northwest. Adequate secondary treatment of these wastes by conventional processes is complicated by the seasonal nature of most of the food-processing plants and the large capital expenditures for waste treatment facilities which may be used for only a few months each year. The report presents the data collected and the conclusions drawn from a six week period of sampling of an aerated lagoon used to treat wastes from the frozen pea processing plant of Kelley-Farquhar located at Ferndale, Washington. |
