Abstract |
The authors of this monograph have been associated for several years with the problem of protecting personnel against disease-producing organisms found in hospitals or in biological laboratories. Although there are various means of cleaning air, the authors' experience has been widest in the use of air filtration as a method for removing bacteria from the air. This monograph is written for the specific purpose of making the benefits of this experience available to personnel such as architects, engineers, hospital administrators, and research investigators concerned with the control of pathogenic biological organisms. Although this report is oriented to biological air filtration, certainly the information also is applicable to industries using radioactive materials and to others, such as precision instrument industries or space-craft projects that require physically clean air. |
