Abstract The Clean Air Act as amended in 1977 prescribes several technology-based limitations affecting new or modified air pollution sources: (1) new source performance standards (NSPS); (2) best available control technology (BACT); and (3) lowest achievable emission rate (LAER). The basic purposes of the BACT/LAER Clearinghouse are to: (1) provide State and local air pollution control agencies with current information on case-by-case control technology determinations that are made nationwide and (2) promote communication, cooperation, and sharing of control technology information among the permitting agencies. The information presented in this compilation was abstracted from preconstruction permits and submitted voluntarily by the State and local air pollution control agencies. The Clearinghouse is intended as a reference for State and local agencies in making BACT/LAER decisions. Since the 1985 BLC document was published in June of that year, annual supplements containing only those determinations inserted or revised during the previous 12 months were published. A master edition containing all new/revised determinations completed during the past 5 years was planned to be published every 5 years. The report is the 5 year compilation containing all determinations inserted or updated since June 1985. The volume is a continuation of appendice H which discusses detailed listings for new determinations Source codes 4-7.
