Abstract |
N-butyl acrylate (141-32-3) was evaluated for developmental toxicity. Days and duration of exposures were not reported. One of 30, 1/27, 1/29, 2/30, 2/30, and 25/25 pregnant mice (strain was not reported) died when treated with 1, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, and 4.0 g/kg/day of N-butyl acrylate respectively. Eighty-eight mice were present in the control group. Average weight gain during pregnancy was significantly (p<0.03) affected at 1.5 g/kg or above. The average fetal weight was significantly (p<0.001) reduced at 1.5 g/kg/day or above. A significant (p<0.02) increase in the percent of resorptions was observed at 2.5 g/kg/day or above. At 1 g/kg/day or above the average percent of malformed fetuses was significantly (p < 0.03) increased. Fused ribs were significantly (p < 0.01) increased at dosages of 1.5, 2.5, and 3.0 g/kg/day and fused arches were significantly (p < 0.02) increased at 2.5 g/kg/day or above. These 2 malformations, as well cleft palate, exencephaly and open eye, followed a significant (p < 0.01) trend as the dose level increased. White lesions in the left cardiac ventricle also showed a significant trend (p < 0.003) at 2.5 g/kg/day or above. No further information was provided regarding this study. |
