Abstract |
The article was originally published in High Technology as a feature article. It covers recent strides that have occurred in recovery processes. Methods summarized for metal recovery are: new plasma technology, coupled-transport membranes, and biotechnology. The article also outlines present substitutes. In addition, the article summarizes several landfill-gas recovery operations currently being researched. Finally, the article summarizes current processes for handling municipal solid waste (MSW) including refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and solid waste conversions to low-cost materials. |
