Abstract |
This document discusses reclamation alternatives for land that has been surface-mined. Special attention is given to the use of tree planting as a desirable reclamation method. Contents include Illinoian reclamation history, knowledge of forestry techniques and successes on surface-mined lands, recreational and educational use of the reclaimed land, social and economic effects of reclamation, and reclamation legislation and goals. A reclamation directory containing names and addresses of coal companies, state and federal agencies, and universities and colleges is provided. (MA) |
