The major components of the selected remedy include: excavation of lead-contaminated soils; off-site disposal of excavated soils at a solid waste landfill; use of institutional controls (such as fencing and groundwater and land use restrictions) on site property to limit land and groundwater use; installation of additional groundwater monitoring wells in the source area next to the battery cracking building; and monitorinig of groundwater to ensure effectiveness of the remdial action (soil removal) and determine if there is need for future active groundwater remediation.
