Abstract This Research Summary describes an alternative approach towards pest management--an approach that takes into account both the necessity and the danger of pesticides. Integrated pest management involves the carefully managed use of multiple pest control tactics. It is a highly effective alternative that minimizes the use of chemical controls and maximizes the use of natural processes, thereby avoiding many of the problems associated with pesticides use.
