Abstract This report deals with two chemical pollutants, cadmium and zinc, and their effects on the flagfish (Jordanella floridae). These chemicals were utilized because they are virtually ubiquitous in the environment and because of their observed toxic effect to some aquatic life. The flagfish was chosen for study because of its short life cycle (6-8 wk) and for comparing its sensitivity with other fish species having longer life cycles.
