Abstract |
A final report of a study which was conducted with the objectives of estimating the present and future availability of residual fuel oil (RFO), relative to the U.S. Market, at current high sulfur levels and at low sulfur levels. The study consisted of two phases, as follows: Phase 1 - compilation of statistical data relating to the recent history of the crude oil and residual fuel oil situation throughout the world with particular emphasis on the United States. Phase 2 - Estimation of the present and future production capability of existing refineries, which are engaged in supplying the U.S. residual fuel oil requirements. Projection of the RFO production capabilities of these same refineries after the addition of hydrotreating facilities and the incremental cost of producing low sulfur RFO as a result of such modifications.
