Abstract |
This document brings together a listing, by reference, of appropriate technical codes dealing with storage tank design, construction and use, as promulgated by the American Petroleum Institute, the National Fire Protection Association, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Water Works Association, American Concrete Institute, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers and the Steel Structures Painting Institute. It further identifies each reference as being either a standard, specification, recommended practice, bulletin or publication, and indicates whether the cited code is applicable to atmospheric, low pressure or high pressure tanks. Certain Underwriters Laboratories are also cited. Because public regulatory agencies derive the data upon which they promulgate restrictive measures from existing standards, codes and recommended practices, the Code document suggests, inferentially, that the user consult all appropriate and applicable codes in order to make certain, in advance, that his installation will be in compliance with any legal restriction which could be cited by an inspector. |
