Abstract An advanced generalized urban air quality model (IBMAQ-2) is developed based on the theory utilized in an existing model (IBMAQ-1) as prescribed in Ref. 1. The model, based on numerical integration of the concentration equation, computes temporal and three-dimensional spatial concentration distributions resulting from specified urban point and area sources by using NEDS (National Emission Data System) and simulated RAMS (Regional Air Monitoring System) data. The UTM (Universal Transverse Metric) coordinates are used in all geographical, source emission, and monitoring data. A new method to incorporate point sources into the grid computtion is developed by using a Lagrange trajectory method. Many model options are provided which enable users to study conveniently the significant effects which these options have on the final concentration distributions. The program description is included to provide a guide for users. The program is constructed in a modular form which allows users to change or improve each component conveniently. The input auxiliary model, which processes geographical, source emission, and monitoring data, is also included.
