Contents Notes |
"Air Quality Sensors are getting more sophisticated- and easier to use. The new generation of low-cost, portable air quality sensors opens an exciting opportunity for people to use this technology for many applications. Your colleagues will discuss a variety of research and direct support efforts- from lessons learned during the use of Smoke Sense during this year's wildfire season, to planned work in Ghana. Come hear about sensor use- near and far! -- Sara Terry and John White will discuss the potential role for sensor technology to fill air measurement gaps in low and middle income countries, highlighting a planned pilot project in Ghana, and how AirNow use has expanded throughout the world.-- Ana Rappold will tell you about our new Smoke Sense App, which is a citizen science project that will help determine the extent to which exposure to wildland fire smoke affects health and productivity and helps to develop health risk communication strategies that protect public health during smoke days. -- Kristen Benedict and Ron Williams will tell you how EPA is discovering, evaluating, and applying low cost sensors to meet a wide variety of Agency needs, and how States and EPA are exploring a third party certification program for non-regulatory sensor applications. -- Ingrid George will describe a new multi-component sensor system that can detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and discuss how it will be used in Dallas, TX to help identify VOC pollution sources."--Cutting Edge Speaker Series webpage. |
