| Abstract |
Triethylene glycol (112-27-6) was evaluated for acute inhalation toxicity in one group of 5 male and 5 female Sprague-Dawley albino rats exposed to the test material for four hours at at concentration of 5.2 mg/L. The use of controls was not specified. The animals were observed for 14-days post-exposure. No animals died during the study. Clinical signs on the day of exposure included periocular wetness, blepharospasm, wet (oily) fur, and an absence of toe and tail pinch reflexes. Unkempt fur was the only clinical sign observed during the post-exposure period. Necropsy revealed no macroscopic lesions in animals sacrificed at the end of the 14-day observation period. Histopathological examination was not specified. The 4-hour LC50 for triethylene glycol in Sprague-Dawley rats was greater than 5.2 mg/L. |
