Abstract |
The results of a study to determine how effectively natural cleansing processes remove lead pollutants in the atmosphere are presented. The study included (1) field sampling in Palo Alto, California, to determine the effectiveness of sedimentation, impaction, rainout, and washout, and (2) a laboratory study to determine how well specific lead compound aerosol particles act as nuclei for droplet formation. The field sampling data indicated that sedimentation is responsible for a major portion of the lead removal in the Palo Alto area. |
