Contents Notes Special x-ray diffraction geometry has been developed to distinguish chrysotile asbestos from serpentine and other clay minerals. The x-ray method requires alignment of the chrysotile fibers, and the technique for accomplishing this alignment has been developed and tested. A limit of detection of 0.2 micrograms asbestos has been achieved routinely for chrysotile in the absence of extraneous material from real air samples.
