Abstract The manuscript summarizes various control measures used to inactivate the causative organism of Legionnaires disease. The article reviews various chemical agents such as chlorine and ozone, and ultraviolet irradiation. Confounding variables such as the association of legionellae and free-living protozoa are also discussed.
