| Abstract |
These proceedings include a cross-sectional representation of the broad base ecological effects research programs conducted by research laboratories of the EPA Office of Health and Ecological Effects. The presentations focus on microbial and abiotic degradation processes, the problem of trace metals, the effects of toxic organics, and the feasibility of new stress-measuring methodologies in the marine environment. The freshwater segment of the symposium addresses the transport and biological modeling capabilities of the laboratories, cold climate aquatic biology, lake trophic states in the eastern United States, and the impact of toxic substances on freshwater systems. |
