Abstract |
The current increase in the number of nuclear power stations requires expanded monitoring programs at the state and federal level to assure that radiation exposure of persons in the environmental remain at an acceptably low level. The Environmental Protection Agency is therefore engaged in studies at operating nuclear power stations to provide information on environmental radiation and radioactivity levels and to evaluate monitoring programs. One aspect of these studies had been the collection, evaluation and, in some instances, modification of radiochemical analytical methods for measuring radionuclides in coolant and waste water at these stations. Presented in this manual are 38 methods that have been found appropriate for the commonly encountered radionuclides. |
