Abstract In our work to clean up contamination from leaking underground storage tanks (USTs), it is easy to become caught up in the immediate danger to our ground water supplies. While this hazard to ground water is real and must be addressed, it cannot be addressed with complete disregard to other parts of the environment. This manual is designed to address the issue of air emissions that result from petroleum UST cleanups. It will educate both those who are conducting UST corrective actions, and those who are regulating air emissions at the State and local levels. This manual will provide the means to make more informed and responsible decisions. This manual will serve as one tool to protect human health and the environment.
