Abstract This document is an exposure assessment for asbestos-contaminated vermiculite. Such exposure is found to occur mainly via inhalation: ingestion and dermal adsorption are insignificant routes of exposure. Vermiculite is released to the air during mining, milling, exfoliation, transport, and use. These operations may also release some asbestos fibers, which are readily transported through the atmosphere.
