Abstract The paper presents information on two pilot-field applications of advanced oxidation technologies for contaminated groundwater with organics. The Ultrox technology was demonstrated in 1989 with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) program at the Lorentz Barrel and Drum (LB&D) site in San Jose, California. Peroxidation Systems technology was applied at the Old O-Field site located within the Aberdeen Proving Ground, in Maryland. The information presented includes a description of the technologies, factors affecting the technologies, and results from the two pilot-scale studies of the UV/oxidation treatment system applications.
