Abstract |
The gross behavior of an inclined round turbulent buoyant jet in a stratified ambient environment is determined by quadrature of the governing differential equations. The FORTRAN 4 (level G) language is used for the program, which has been run on an IBM 360/75 digital computer. The essential input to the problem includes the location of the jet; the initial values of jet velocity, jet diameter, and angle of inclination; the density of the discharged fluid; and the density profile of the ambient environment. The density profile may have any gravitationally stable shape. The output consists of the jet trajectory in rectangular coordinates; the nominal width; the centerline velocity, density difference, and dilution ratio. All of these parameters are printed out at uniform intervals along the jet trajectory. Calculations are stopped at the maxmium height of rise or greatest depth of sinking of the jet or at any predetermined vertical or horizontal coordinate. |
