Abstract The Plan describes U.S. efforts in each of the component areas that either directly support the World Weather Program goals or contribute toward them. The Plan has four sections. The opening section highlights and places in perspective the overall GARP- its development, current activities, and plans for the future. Section 2 discusses the U.S. role in implementing WWW, including global baseline and regional monitoring stations, both directly and through assistance to developing countries; preparations for large-scale observation experiments, especially the GARP Atlantic Tropical Experiment (GATE); and current systems design and development activities that have led to new satellite and sensor systems, constant-density and carrier balloon systems, advanced upper air observing systems, data buoys, and automatic meteorological observing systems. Section 3 provides information on the U.S. planned program for FY 1975. A fiscal summary of all of these programs is contained in the concluding section.
