Abstract The objective of the in-house evaporative emission enclosure (SHED) test program is to develop a concise, accurate and practical evaporative emission test procedure. One of the tasks identified for the test program was to establish a recommended time from the end of the dynamometer test cycle to the start of the hot soak evaporative emission test. The objective of this report is to use the collected data to establish the effect of the time between the exhaust emissions and hot soak emissions test phases on the measured evaporative emission levels during the hot soak and to recommend a time tolerance based on this information and practical considerations. The time tolerances of two operations prior to the hot soak evaporative emissions test were evaluated.
