Abstract |
The purpose of the investigation was to ascertain the feasibility of using ion exchange for the removal of the mineral portion of the use increment in sewage prior to re-use. Specifically, (1) to optimize the operating variables of a strong acid cation-weak base anion exchange system for the partial demineralization of brackish waste water, (2) to develop a rational basis for the design of partial demineralization systems for municipal use, (3) to identify the limitations and the operational difficulties, and (4) to determine the economic feasibility of the process in comparison with other methods. |
