| Abstract |
Some tanneries are fortunate enough to be located geographically or otherwise so that the inevitable impact of effluent pollution control is minimal. Others have to go the full distance and design, construct, and operate wastewater treatment facilities of their own, to meet State or Federally imposed discharge requirements. This was required to be done at one of our A.C. Lawrence tanneries. The authors have completed a demonstration project for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on this system, in which the Agency supported the operation for a twelve month period, and during which a significant amount of data was accumulated, representative of both summer, and winter, operating conditions. |
